The export scenario for the small and medium sector will be bright during the next six months, according to a snap poll conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The snap poll, based on direct and indirect responses of small and medium enterprises from among CII members, also reveals a moderately positive impact of the dismantling of quantitative restrictions on the sector.

The poll also reinforced the findings about the increase in the profit margins of half of the respondents, as reported by the snap poll for 2003-04, released during the last quarter of 2003, CII said in a statement.

According to the poll, 65 per cent of the respondents have envisaged an increase in the volume of exports, 10 per cent have said the market will be stagnant, while 10 per cent expect a decline in exports.

In value terms, 58 per cent of the respondents expect export value to increase, 29 per cent expect it to remain the same, whereas only 6 per cent expect it to decrease in the next six months.
