"The call centre, to come up around Delhi, will initially cater to the calls of travellers from English speaking countries who want to visit India. Later it will be expanded for non-English speaking countries and deal with calls related to other destinations too," he said.

"Our vision is to make India a back office for Kuoni operations throughout the world," Malkani said.

Kuoni, which operates in 27 countries, will initially start the call centre with 25 people. "There is, however, no limit for expansion" he said.

Kuoni, which has a team of 50 people for software development, is planning to market its software as part of the company's plans to set up a travel software subsidiary.

"In the last three to four years, we have spent Rs 30-40 crore (Rs 300-400 million) for development of travel related software. Now we are thinking of providing the software packages to other companies on lease model," Malkani said.

Kuoni India has developed three software packages -- Frame (for outbound travel), Atom (inbound travel) and BT Soft (business travel).
