Government on Monday ruled out any extension of the July 14 deadline for Conditional Access System in the four metros, even as Multi System Operators assured there would be no shortage of set-top boxes.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told a delegation of MSOs that those who oppose CAS or spread disinformation about it, must know that ultimately it is in their interest also, an official release said.
The MSOs said they have already ordered a "more than sufficient quantity of set-top boxes, required to access pay channels once the CAS is in place.
They alleged that some broadcasters were not coming clean to declare their rates and enter into agreements with MSOs which was leading to "confusion".
They said the sooner the rates of pay channels are announced by the broadcasters, the smoother would be the changeover to the CAS.
