Information technology services company Infogain on Wednesday said it had entered the business process outsourcing sector through the acquisition of two BPO businesses in India and the United States, including a 100-seat capacity business in Gurgaon.
"We want to jumpstart into BPO operations. One of our acquisition is a 100-seat live BPO business in Gurgaon which has been formed into a separate company, Kapil Nanda, chairman and CEO, Infogain told newspersons in New Delhi, adding Infogain had acquired the customer base of another BPO centre in the US.
He said since the company did not acquire any facility in case of both these acquisitions, the financial transactions were not significant and added Infogain acquired only people and businesses. He did not identify the two acquired companies nor disclose the size of the deal.
With these acquisitions, Infogain had got BPO clients in the US and United Kingdom in the space of financial services, he said.
The company is planning to add up to 500 people for the BPO operations in the next one year and is also building a third facility in Noida to accommodate the BPO employees along with IT services.
Its India expansion investment including the BPO would be $5 million, Nanda said.
Infogain has opened a second facility in Noida recently to focus on product engineering services.
"We are expecting 50 per cent of our revenue to come from BPO services in the next two years. Currently two-third of the revenue come from the US," he said.
The US-based Infogain has two development centres in Noida and the Indian operation is a 100 per cent arm.
