After the success of its wireless-in-local loop (mobile) service, Reliance Infocomm on Tuesday launched another innovative communication product -- fixed phones sans any wire connection.
Reliance Fixed Wireless Phone and Reliance Fixed Wireless Terminal was launched on Tuesday in the four metros under the brand name of Reliance IndiaPhone, according to a spokesman of the company.
Both the products, based on the CDMA2000 1X technology, offer a useful range of fixed telephony and data/Internet applications for various segments of users like individuals, large corporations and small and medium enterprises.
The FWP, which can be purchased across the counter and installed at any place, includes features like two-way SMS (short message service) capability, Caller Line Identity, record of missed calls, voice mail, phone book capable of storing 99 numbers, three way conference capability and choice of ring tones.
Since it is wireless, it is not susceptible to the usual landline phone disruptions due to cable faults or water logging, the spokesman said.
On the other hand FWT can be used for applications like ATM connectivity, headquarter to branch connectivity, travel reservation applications and by large or medium lottery.
Both the products, now available under various tariff plans, would be launched in a phased manner across the country like the mobile service, which is now available in more than 300 cities.
