It was a bitter-sweet day for Malaika Arora.

Though Onam is one of her favourite festivals, her mood was muted due to the tragedy that has engulfed her home state.

Malaika, who walked for designer Anushree Reddy on Day 4 of the Lakme Fashion Week, shared her feelings:

Happy Onam to all!

Onam is a festival I really do look forward too, as does everyone in my family. But given the current circumstances, it doesn’t just feel right.

What we should actually be celebrating is the unity and how everyone has come forward to help Kerala, which is such a beautiful state. And I love my state very much.

I am sure everybody would help any state that is facing a crisis. I think that is what the spirit should be.

The fighting spirit that Kerala has displayed in the last couple of weeks has been truly amazing.

I just want to tell those who are facing this crisis that we are all there and are praying for you. I hope everything returns to normal soon.

When Mother Nature strikes like this, you can’t really do much except help in whatever way you can.
