All you need to do is use these ingredients. And they are available in your home, says Megha Asher.
The monsoon season can really challenge your skin. At this time of the year, acne, breakouts and clogged pores are quite common for people with oily, sticky skin.
With festivals and weddings around the corner, we all want to look our absolute best (do remember to follow Covid precautions as well).
While your makeup and outfit needs to be on point, it is your skin that needs special attention.
Here are some DIY tips to help you get that radiant, glowy look.
1. Rosewater
Rose is rich in antioxidants and helps decongest and reduce pores.
It also helps balance sebum production, making the skin more balanced and even toned.
After cleansing your face with a mild soap, facewash or water, gently pat a few drops of rosewater into your skin.
Allow it to sit for a while, then add your moisturiser.
Rosewater softens your skin and makes it look fresh.
2. Rosewater + multani mitti face mask
Rosewater is a very versatile product and you can use it to whip up a quick face mask at home.
Mix 1-2 tbsp rosewater with 1 tbsp of multani mitti (or Fuller's earth) to get a paste-like consistency.
Apply the mask to your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Multani mitti helps draw out dirt and impurities. It also soothes and balances your skin.
3. Papaya + multani mitti face mask
Papaya is rich in papain, an enzyme that helps gently exfoliate your skin, giving it a brighter and radiant look.
To make this face mask, mix 1 tablespoon of papaya pulp with 1 tablespoon of multani mitti.
Gently apply on your face and keep it on for 15-20 minutes. Then, wash it off to reveal glowing skin!
4. Aloe vera
Aloe vera is hydrating and gives a fresh glow to dull, tired skin.
Scoop out some aloe vera and blend it into a paste.
Pour the paste onto ice trays and refrigerate. Your aloe vera ice cubes are ready!
Rub one cube a day on your face to freshen up your skin.
Here are a few DIYs for your post-festival skin:
1. Rosewater + multani mitti
Whether it is pre- or post-festive season, this DIY mask works wonders.
It’ll help you deep-cleanse your skin while soothing away any irritation.
2. Potato juice
Nutrient-rich potato juice evens out the skin tone and helps improve skin texture.
Simply take a slice of potato and place it under your eyes to battle under-eye circles.
You may also grate some potato, squeeze out the juice and apply it on your face.
Let it dry before you rinse it off. Follow it up with your favourite toner and moisturiser/facial oil.
3. Neem leaves
Looking for a quick and easy acne spot treatment? Look no further.
Neem is a great anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.
Take a few neem leaves and soak them till they become soft.
Grind them into a paste and your acne spot treatment is ready!
