Ivanka Trump attempts to wear bit of India. Does she succeed?

She may have come to India as leader of the United States delegation to the eighth edition of the Global Entrepreneurial Summit, but First Daughter Ivanka Trump’s sartorial choices garnered far more attention.

In a departure from her usual style, and kike many other visiting leaders and their spouses, Ivanka attempted to wear a bit of India.

Her first official Indian appearance saw her in a ‘Sylvia’ jacket by Tory Burch that she teamed with black pants and accessorised with a white handbag, with her hair left loose.

A closer look shows that the embellished embroidery has a mother of pearl finish, which was probably a doff to Hyderabad, anointed India’s ‘city of pearls’.

The embroidery too is reminiscent if India’s traditional embroidery.

For her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she chose a softly-flowing tea-length Erdem dress in brocade, a fabric popular in north India.

This outfit, which had a floral motif in deep jewel tones, came in for much criticism, particularly for its statement keyhole neck.

For dinner at the Taj Faluknama Palace, she wore a gold-embroidered midnight blue gown.

The embroidery on the gown, also from the Tory Burch collection, was had an Indian look and feel.

On the next day, she chose to wear a floral red lace dress with black lace accents on the sleeves.

This was the only outfit created by a designer with an Indian connection, the Mumbai-born, London-based Saloni Lodha.

While touring the historic Golconda fort, she wore a cream and black outfit by Indonesian designer Biyan Wanaatmadja.

She teamed it with with bejeweled white flats and glamorous cat-eye sunglasses.

Ivanka clearly seems to have enjoyed her visit to the fort, terming it as a 'perfect end to a remarkable visit' on her social media account.

For her last outfit in India, she wore a traditional ivory coloured kurta dress embroidered with green.
