Travel pix: Why you must visit Himachal in the summer

Rediff readers have been sharing stunning #IndiaPhotos from their travels across the country.
Ashish Narsale clicked these photographs on his recent trip to Himachal Pradesh.

The Jakhu temple in Shimla features a 108 ft tall statue of Lord Hanuman. Situated at approximately 8,000 ft at Jakhoo hill, one of Shimla's highest peaks, the view from the temple is breathtaking.

IMAGE: Anyone who has been to Shimla will suggest you to visit Mall Road. Known as a shopping destination, the roads here are narrow, so vehicles are not allowed. When you are here, you will see plenty of people manually plying their goods and wares up and down the road.

IMAGE: The Indian Army Memorial on Mall Road, Shimla is a heroic tribute to the country's brave jawans.

IMAGE: The vintage sign boards that guide tourists around the city will instantly charm you.

IMAGE: The mall road is a haven for shoppers. But beware of monkeys!

IMAGE: If you are lucky, you may get to witness a traditional wedding ceremony replete with band bajaa.

IMAGE: Don't forget to take a stroll in the woods. The lush greenery, fresh air and pristine surroundings will soothe your nerves.

IMAGE: It's interesting how the local vendors chill the drinks in the icy cold rivers.

IMAGE: You can indulge in snow fights or simply build a snowman.

IMAGE: When you are in Dharamsala, a trip to the monastery is a must.

IMAGE: The intricate designs and wooden architecture will interest you.

IMAGE: In the summer months, you can still see the snow melt off the mountains.

IMAGE: If you spot a yak, you can request for a short ride.

IMAGE: There are quite a few temples up the hill. The Jwalamukhi temple doesn't have a diety, but there is a square pit from which flames emit, which is considered the mouth of goddess Kaali.

IMAGE: For the adventure lovers, there are plenty of games to choose from -- skiing, ice skating, trekking, paragliding etc.

IMAGE: You'll have ample moments like these that will take your breath away.

IMAGE: Khajjiar, another popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh is must visit for tourists. It is also known as the Switzerland of India.

IMAGE: The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association stadium in Dharamshala surrounded by snow clad mountain peaks looks picturesque.

IMAGE: There are plenty of rare birds that will leave you amazed.
