A trip to Leh and Ladakh is incomplete without monasteries. Diskit Monastery is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Nubra valley of Ladakh.

Hemis Monastery is a colourful treat and it houses a museum too.

Thiksey monastery, which is equally famous, is located at an altitude of almost 3,600 m in the Thiksey village.

The market in Leh sells some interesting memorabilia and souvenirs which you can take home for your friends and family.

The double-humped camels are a rare sight in higher altitudes of Nubra valley and some regions of Ladakh.

Marmots are rare, friendly and cute little creatures found at altitudes of 3,500 to 5,200 m (11,500 to 17,100 ft) in Ladakh. You have to be careful not to feed them or litter around.
The ancient Greek writers described them as gold-digging ants because in those days, gold chunks were mined from the silts of the burrows these marmots dug.

The Tso Moriri lake in Ladakh is another beautiful sight.

Pangong Lake is another popular tourist spot. Scroll down to find out why.

The climax of 3 Idiots was shot at Pangong lake.

You will see Lamayuru on the Srinagar-Leh highway. It is also called as Moonland because the terrain here resembles that on the moon.

A view from the meditation hill. From here, we could see the entire village of Lamayuru.
