Every daughter-in-law has a blow hot-blow cold relationship with her mother-in-law.

From being over dramatic to overprotective to attention-seeking, dealing with mothers-in-law can get tricky sometimes.

But, as far as Indian mothers-in-law are concerned they have a 'typical' nature which not only defines their personality, but also the way they deal with everyday life situations.

While we all love our mothers and mothers-in-law, here's a tongue-in-cheek look at the different types of mothers-in-law we encounter in our day-to-day life.

Try and guess which one is too similar to yours ;)

#1. The emotional mother-in-law

This mother-in-law is one who cries at the drop of a hat and does everything she can to create a mountain of a molehill.

All to get the sympathy and gain a few brownie points from her son and the rest of the family.

#2. The traditional mother-in-law

If you happen to have a traditional mum-in-law, we bet she'd be after your life to keep vrat and upvas (religious fasting).

Being a traditional mum-in-law she might not also allow you to cook or eat non-veg several days of the week.

To keep her happy all you have to do is don a traditional avatar and worship a couple of days in the week. And give up non-veg on the days that are sacred to her!

#3. The overprotective mother-in-law

This is the one who gives you haldi dhoodh (turmeric milk) every time you sneeze, and showers you with so much love and attention that she never leaves you alone, not even when your husband is around!

#4. The over-interfering mother-in-law

If you have a mother-in-law that interferes a lot and has a say in each and everything you do, you have an over-interfering mum-in-law for sure!

The best thing to do would be to let her take charge and do whatever she wants to do! If you can't handle that, keep quiet!

#5. The attention seeking mother-in-law

The attention-seeking mother-in-law tries to hog the limelight and takes the credit from you whenever she can.

She would be happy if you take the backseat and let her be the centre of attention. Do that and you will win her heart for sure.
