Chirag Buch's maternal uncle gifted him this HMT in 1988 during his thread ceremony when it is customary to gift one's nephew all the things that he can wear -- from a shirt and trousers to a cap, belt, socks... and a watch!

More than a quarter century since the watch remains Chirag's priced possession.

"I have changed the batteries and the strap just once. I still wear this watch on some occasions!" he says.

Ranadeep Chakravarty has been collecting HMT watches for over ten years now and been gifting a few to watch-loving friends worldwide as well.

Jiban Kumar writes:

"My father got this HMT Quartz on completing 25 years service in SAIL-RSP in 1984.

"He gifted it to me in 1989 and I have been using it since them.

"Though I have lot more modern watches, this one is special and unique.

"It always reminds me of my late father."

This watch belonged to Verma Chandradev who handed it down to him when he started college.

"This watch was bought in 1989 and has been very dear to me since my father gifted it to me," he writes.
