In pix: Pookalam, sadhya and more Onam memories

We'd asked you, dear readers, to tell us how you're celebrating Onam.
Here are some interesting responses we received from you.

Bangalore based reader David RN sent us this picture of his six year old son Aayu dressed in a silk mundu and kurta ahead of Onam.

Onam celebrations are incomplete without onakodi (a new pair of clothes) and Aayu is happy with his This year, the family is travelling to Thiruvananthapuram to celebrate the festival. They plan to visit Poovar backwaters. 

"One thing you shouldn't miss during Onam is Kaaya varuthatha (banana chips). In fact it's a favourite snack all through the year but I guess Onam makes it special," he says.

"Aayu likes Onasadhya especially, when the entire family including cousins and relatives get together."

Varsha Manoj Kumar, 15 from Coimbatore made this beautiful pookalam outside her home.

"The bright colours of the flowers are pleasing to the eye. It gives me great joy and happiness to decorate the flowers. Onam is one festival I long for every year as it brings all my family members together. We celebrate it with great fun and excitement."

Ramya Shivakumar from Chennai also sent us this picture of a colourful pookalam she made as a part of her Onam celebrations. 

Mumbai-based Manu Kurup always looks forward to enjoying the sumptuous Onasadhya with his family. Doesn't this elaborate spread make you drool?
