Did you cheat on your partner? Here's a 7-step break-up guide

Here are a few things that could help you both get through the break-up...

1. Come clean

Don't postpone the inevitable. Save him the pain and tell him the entire truth instead of ignoring calls, not replying to texts, locking your phone and stuff. If he lets you go, then that's that, good for you.

But if he still wants to work things out with you, you should be incredibly ashamed of yourself. Come clean and tell him the whole truth before you guys decide what to do next.

2. Use social media wisely

You know that he is going to be stalking you for quite some time, so posting party pictures with other guys or the guy you're currently with makes you a complete bit*h. It's not cool and it definitely doesn't prove that you are better than him in anyway. You've already gone and ripped out his heart, at least give him the time to patch it back up. Do what you want with your life, just don't announce.

3. Answer calls

You've gone and cheated on him even though he loved you, so you might as well pay the price. He's probably going to call and verbally abuse you, remember that it's your fault and that he is just venting out his anger due to rejection.

Try not to ignore every single call or text he sends. Reply to at least a few, his anger will eventually fade and it will help him to move on.

4. Don't shatter his ego

Men have strange ways of exacting vengeance, so you might not want to target his ego when he's broken. You've found someone richer, better looking and more successful, good for you, but don't make him feel even more miserable by introducing him to your new found love or speaking about him.

Karma might just bite you in the ass sooner or later when you see your once ex driving a sports car with a woman 7 times hotter than you are.

5. Avoid common friends for a while

If the poor wreck still wants you back, he's probably going to be hanging around a lot with common friends just to get to talk to you. Try and avoid this at least for a little while, at least until the texts and calls from him start to reduce.

6. Don't be a b*tch

You do not have the right to talk bad about the man you cheated on. Remember that he loved you, and he probably sacrificed a lot for you which you don't know about.

He's now coming to terms with the things that he's lost because of you, the last thing you want him to hear from you or your common friends is all the 'you never asked him to'. Say you're sorry instead. Make him understand that you don't have any feelings for him anymore.

7. Be there during times of emergencies

In case there is an emergency, or something serious has happened to his friends or family, understand that he is calling you because he is used to sharing his hard times with you. So if there is an emergency within 6 months of the break-up, the least you can do is be with him and help out.

However you look at it, cheating is not cool. If you want to fool around, make your intentions clear to your partner and this goes for both men and women. Respect yourselves and your partner's feelings.
