PIX: Why these Indian artistes deserve applause

On Sunday, Mumbai-based NGO Narayan Seva Sansthan organised a unique talent show in the city.

At the 14th Divyang Talent and Fashion Show, as many as 40 physically challenged artistes showcased their talent performing on stage with calipers, wheelchairs, crutches, and artificial limbs.

Ahead of the show Rediff.com's Hitesh Harisinghani captured these candid images of artistes.

Ayushi is only seven years old. She was all excited to walk the ramp in Mumbai.

Ahmad Raza, aged 5 from Rajasthan was also probably one of the youngest performers. He is seen here interacting with his mother.

Neha Prajapati preferred to do her own make-up.

Jagdish Patel, 26 had come all the way from Madhya Pradesh to show his talent.

Wheelchair bound female contestants line up before the show. The confidence on their faces was infectious.

There was excitement, nervousness and the passion to show the world that they are unstoppable.

Bajrang Choudhary, 23 from Rajasthan was busy decorating his wheelchair.

Bharat Devasi, 25 year was excited to walk the ramp. It was the first time he had travelled to Mumbai for a show.

A make-up artist is seen giving final touches to Priyanka Goswami (in yellow), one of the wheelchair bound artistes who walked the ramp.

Santosh Kumar, another physically challenged participant appeared calm and composed as he let his makeup artist work his magic.
