It is not everyday that you come across a story of a princess marrying a law firm employee.

Such endearing love stories are rare, yet they bring a smile on your face.

Take the case of Japan's Emperor Akihito's granddaughter, Princess Mako.

The 25-year-old recently got engaged to Kei Komuro, who works with a law firm. Yes! You heard it right :)

The two had met five years ago at the International Christian University, where Kei won her heart.

'I was attracted by his bright smile like the sun,' she told New.com.au.

Back in 2013, Kei proposed to her at a dinner and they are all set to tie the knot next year.

Unlike most of the royals, Princess Mako had a job! She used to work as a researcher in a Tokyo museum and is now studying for a doctorate.  

She will lose her royal status after marrying Kei, because in Japan women are not allowed to succeed the throne. 

However, her parents Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko have expressed their delight for their daughter and support her decision.
