What's hotter -- entrepreneurship or a top job?

January 29, 2007

It's no longer hot to land yourself a top job with a corporate when you graduate from business school, say young B-school graduates in India.

What's hot, instead, is starting your own company.

The recent trend among soon-to-be-MBAs is to turn down job offers in favour of setting up their own start-ups.

Despite the risks that being an entrepreneur involves -- losing the capital you invested, the lack of security that a regular pay cheque brings, the possibility of failure, etc -- B-school grads are increasingly moving towards starting their own businesses.

What do you think? Is it better to have your own business, or are the perks and salary of a conventional job a more sensible choice?

Are entrepreneurs more satisfied at the end of the day?

We invite MBA students, B-school alumni, working professionals and entrepreneurs to comment.
