Which Indian bombshell has men's hearts aflutter? Here's the final count!
On July 20, we invited readers to participate in a poll to let us know who they think is the most desirable woman in India.
Well, the votes are in (all 9299 of them) and the winner, with 21 percent of readers rooting for her, is Bollywood's leading lady of the hour, Katrina Kaif. Not very surprising, considering Kat has it all going for her -- looks, glamour, superstardom...sigh!
But there were a few surprises too, with lesser-known candidates faring much better than some popular names and those who're very famous plummeting to the lower end of the list.
So in case you're wondering how all the other lovely ladies fared, here's a break-up of the runners-up to the title spot!
1. Katrina Kaif She managed to top things with 2015 votes -- that's 21 percent of readers who think she's the most desirable Indian woman.
2. Jennifer Winget Now this was definitely unforseen! The soap star came in at Number Two with 843 readers rooting for her -- that's 9 percent of the total votes.
3. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Ash made it to third position, showing that being married is hardly a criterion when it comes to desirability. She snagged 8 percent in the poll, with 813 votes.
4. Sonam Kapoor Close on Mrs Bachchan's heels is the cute Kapoor, also with 8 percent of the total votes, but number-crunching revealed that she captured fewer hearts -- 755, to be exact.
5. Deepika Padukone Sonam edged past her arch rival by just a handful of votes -- Dippy, with her 720 made it to the top five at 7 percent. So close and yet so far!
6. Priyanka Chopra Not to be left far behind, Piggy Chops got into the winners' list with 706 ardent admirers, also 7 percent. She means to keep up with the younger brigade!
7. Asin The Ghajini girl's Southern sexiness saw her take 7 percent in the poll too, but with 685 votes. She's not about to be left out of the race to the top.
8. Sridevi Sri proved that age is just a number with some heavy-duty numbers of her own! She got more votes than some hotties half her age, with 677 votes -- that's another 7 percent.
9. Rekha Madame Re is another testament to timeless beauty and made it to ninth spot with 364 votes -- that's 3 percent. And let's not forget, she's 56!
10. Preity Zinta Rounding off the top ten is Preity, who seems to have a faithful following despite her hiatus from B-Town. She got 3 percent of the votes too, with 315 cast in her favour.
11. Kareena Kapoor Now this came as a bit of a shocker -- Bebo's been ousted to eleventh place by her many rivals. She got 3 percent too, but less than Zinta, with 298 votes.
12. Bipasha Basu Another stunning development. We thought Bips would be in the top five, but she came in trailing at Number Twelve, also with 3 percent of fans, or 293, voting for her.
13. Lakshmi Menon Of the models who qualified as candidates, supermodel Menon, who has graced mag covers across the world, rated the highest with 199 votes -- 2 percent.
14. Sherlyn Chopra It-girl Sherlyn seems to have niche appeal, even if she is the most-downloaded desi babe. She also landed only 2 percent, with 194 votes.
15. Padma Lakshmi Sexiest chef in the world, but new mamma Padma doesn't seem to do it for the Indian audience -- disappointing! Another 2 percent-er, with 191 votes.
16. Anupama Verma Now it's time for the less than 1 percent brigade -- not quite zero, though! Model Anupama got 87 votes out of 9299. Pretty low for a pretty gal, wouldn't you say?
17. Rakhi Sawant Rakhi, you're slipping! Despite her efforts to remain in the public eye, she can't seem to capture their hearts. Ms Sawant got only 49 votes and was tied in with...
17. Diana Penty Yup, the young model also made it to Number 17 alongside Rakhi, with 49 votes. But hey, she's still got time on her side, so maybe she'll ooze more appeal once she firms her foothold on fashion!
19. Indrani Dasgupta And finally, on the lowest rung of the ladder we have catwalk queen Indrani, with 46 voters deeming her most desirable. |
