We had asked you, dear readers to share your good and bad ATM experiences.
Rediff reader Akhil Goel, 37, tells us how he lost a huge sum of money without even initiating any withdrawal transaction. Read on.
Two years ago, I went to an ICICI Bank ATM in Sector 18, Noida to withdraw cash. It was 9.30 pm.
There were around six ATM machines installed. I used my card in one of the machine but after entering the PIN number, the screen went blank.
I tried to cancel the transaction, but nothing happened. The guard told me that the machine might be broken (out of order).
I went to another machine, fetched cash, received an SMS about the same and left.
By the time I reached my car parked outside, I received another message that said Rs 25,000 has been debited from my account on cash withdrawal.
I ran back to the the ATM but I couldn't spot anyone.
I filed a police complaint and raised a complaint with the bank as well.
They reverted saying that I might have shared my PIN number with someone else and it was my mistake. So they cannot do anything about it.
They never gave me any response on how two ATM machines could withdraw money from the same account within seconds apart.
Their system was at fault which they never agree to.
I stopped using ICICI Bank ATM after this incident.
