We'd asked you, dear readers, to share photographs of you and your mother and tell us what she means to you.

Boston based poet and writer Sunayana Kachroo writes about her mother.

After I got married, I started to somewhat understand my mother.

After I became a mother myself, I realised that motherhood cannot be understood or explained. It can only be felt.

I wrote a poem Maa Main Bhi Tujh Jaisi Hee (mother, I am just like you). A lot of people could connect with the emotions in it.

This year on Mothers' Day I will be releasing a fusion of that poem with a traditional Kashmiri song on IndianRaga to honour all mothers and my motherland Kashmir.

Do send us a picture of you with your mother and tell us what she means to you.

If you don't have an old photograph, you can take a selfie and send it to us!

Simply write to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Mom and me') along with your NAME, MOTHER'S NAME, LOCATION and the story behind the picture. We'll be posting the best entries right here on Rediff.com.
