The 19th edition of Gen Next designers opened Day One at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 with a show mentored by designer Anita Dongre. And for the first time ever, a Nigerian model, Ugochi Latoya Igwilo, will be part of the 5-day extravaganza. Here she walks the ramp for designer Alan Alexander Kaleekal.
Kaleekal's collection used a colour story of ecru and black and featured sheer/solid tie-up dress, cotton boxy tunic, cut-away overall with cropped top and a rear back tie-up tunic with shorts.
Ankit Carpenter's creations were inspired by the cactus and focussed on timeless clean construction and silhouettes.
We particularly liked this one-shoulder origami-inspired mini. Don't you too?
Kanika Goyal's collection was called Creatures of the Night.
Using glass nylon, polyester satin, denim and Lycra in shades of white, beige and lilac, the designer showed a line that had a clever mix of the textures.
The imaginative use of shattered glass print gave the collection an innovative touch.
Manish Bansal's line was for the modern man who pushes the style envelope every day.
Be it a knit kurta with kangaroo pockets…
Or Bermuda shorts with racer-back tank Bansal stuck to white and presented a line for the modern urban male.
Priyanka Ella worked with natural fabrics and her collection featured garments with simple organic shapes that fell comfortably around the body.
Draped Zen-like kimonos, kaftans with long trails, wrap-around oriental creation with looped back, Ella's designs used just one colour -- white.
Salita Nanda was inspired by Picasso's painting Les Demoiselles D'vignon
For the collection, Salita worked with digital prints and a series of 3D printed fabrics and the line, Demoiselles, was targeted at the stylish urban young woman.
