Oh how we've missed you, Vidya!
March 20, 2015

It has been a while since we've seen her on the big screen so you can imagine how thrilled we were to see Vidya Balan in flesh and blood at Lakme Fashion Week.

The Bollywood star, face of all things saris, seemed like an apt choice to close a show that, well, featured saris among other traditional Indian designs.

Designer Gaurang Shah, known for his work with Indian textiles and khadi turned to the Kalpavriksha, the mythical wish-granting tree for inspiration for his latest line.

Using khadi woven by the Jamdani weavers of Andhra Pradesh and Bangladesh, Shah creatively merged the khadi with Phulkari, Kalamkari and Chikankari.

Stunning anarkalis with intricate weaves, ghagras that were voluminous but superbly crafted and elegant saris worn by graceful models floated down the ramp.

The showstopper, of course, was the stunning Vidya Balan who looked a million bucks!
