What: The British Council, Mumbai, invites applications for its full-time Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages programme.

Programme details

~ The duration of the programme is four weeks, from May 8 to June 2.

~ Candidates are required to do lesson planning, reading and research and write four assignments in the evenings and over the weekends.

What is CELTA?

~ The Certificate of English Language Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages is an internationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to work in institutions worldwide.

~ It is awarded by the University of Cambridge and is a widely respected qualification.

Who should attend?

~ The course is for candidates interested in training as English teachers or trainers, particularly in the BPO sector, or those who deal with adult learners.

~ CELTA addresses the methodological aspects of teaching spoken English.

~ It also looks at how to optimise the use the phonemic chart in teaching English pronunciation to speakers of other languages.

~ CELTA is a pre-requisite for teaching in the fields of ESL, Business English and Academic English in many countries.

~ Trainees are equipped with the latest on language research and best practices prevalent in native English speaking countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. 

Are you eligible?

~ You must be at least 20 years old.

~ You must be a graduate in any discipline with minimum overall aggregate of 60 percent.

~ You must have an excellent command of the English language.
