Chennai-based Ramya Subramanian's fabulous transformation will inspire you too.

Ramya Subramanian is a VJ, fitness freak and a lifter.

A few years ago, she made the switch from an unhealthy lifestyle to a clean and healthy one.

Today, the former Miss Chennai finalist inspires her 8 lakh followers to eat healthy and stay fit.

This is how she does it.

'Healthy habits and lifestyle changes can happen only when they are made practical and workable for you. Where and how often you plan to workout are important factors,' says the 32 year-old fitness influencer.
Besides Instagram, Ramya has a YouTube channel 'Stay Fit with Ramya' where she regularly posts workout videos and tips for beginners and experts. Photographs: Kind courtesy Ramya Subramanian/Instagram.

She won the Transformer of the Year award at Fit Up Fest organised in Chennai in April 2019.
In one of her gratitude posts she talked about her journey from a lazy quitter to a strong go-getter.
'Every time I forced myself to a workout when I wanted to sleep, I scored. Every time I refused to give up when I felt like I v done enough, I scored. Every time I worked out on my own and didn't skip while travelling, I scored. I built my fire everyday adding a little fuel and just at the right moment when I lit the match, it worked.'

Ramya works out at least 45 minutes a day. Including holidays.
'With all this holiday craziness, it is important to keep a check on our energy levels, hydration, sleep cycle and stress,' she wrote.

That's her doing heavy rack pulls along with gym buddy and actor Samantha Akkineni.

She's a squat champ and you'll often see her posting videos of her working out with her bestie Samantha.

It's not easy to have a sculpted body like hers. 'There are no shortcuts' she insists.
Have you tried doing a reverse bench press with ankle weights on?

After she won two gold medals in the District Deadlift and Benchpress Championship in 2017, she spoke about how powerlifting has helped her.
'This entire Powerlifting journey has been pretty addictive. From being the sissy who was scared to participate in competitions for fear of losing I've become a competition brave and confident contestant.'
'The result of what every big lift does to our mind and how it helps us focus has to be experienced to believe. It wasn’t easy and the competition was high owing to large numbers of women participating this time. Though I felt intimidated, I also didn't want to give up so easy because quitters don’t win and winners don’t quit.'

Looking back at her personal journey, Ramya shared some of the lessons she has learned.
'2009: Was young and stupid, naive, went on crash diets frequently, judgemental and what others thought mattered the world to me.'
'2019: Older and wiser than before, still naive at times, healthy lifestyle and eating, being judgemental has cut down considerably, really don’t care what those except for my loved ones think.'
