We often admire those with a perfect posture or fuss about ours because of its overall aesthetic appeal.

And while most of us are aware that a good posture also boosts our self-confidence and self-esteem, there is clearly more to it than just aesthetic benefits.

Several studies on postural alignment have shown that a correct posture is essential not just for a healthy body but also for specifics such as improved breathing, better voice throw, faster healing, more stamina.

These researches have been largely driven by those associated with creative field -- dancers, singers, stage artists, actors etc.

Today there are several techniques to help rectify postural defects: Alexander technique, dance therapy, to name a few.

Having a regular physical activity that is challenging and engaging also helps ensure that you do not lose muscle-nerve co-ordination crucial for a good posture.
