Your periods don't need to be the worst time of the month.
Follow these 10 simple tips and say goodbye to pain and cramps during your periods.
1. Drink lemon water every morning after you wake up.
This will have an alkaline effect on your body and keep it hydrated.
2. Include vitamin D3 in your diet.
It is helpful, especially if you live in a cold climate where sunlight is reduced during winters.
3. Increase your consumption of leafy vegetables.
This ensures enough vitamin B, fibre and mineral supply in your body.
You will get a lot of calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin B and other minerals through leafy vegetables.
Swiss chard, collard greens, yogurt, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and spinach contains these minerals.
4. Consume fatty fish, fish or flax oil.
Have it daily and get relief from hormonal imbalances.
5. Try this home remedy using cinnamon and ginger.
Put ¼ tsp cinnamon (ground), a pinch of ginger (ground) or few thin slices of fresh ginger (half an inch) in a cup of hot water.
Let it steep for five minutes. Strain and drink this tea.
5. Have vitex or chaste berry.
It is a herb that eases menstrual cramps and is easily available in India.
6. Apply evening primrose borage oil.
They are rich in anti-inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids.
These are known to reduce breast pain and tenderness as well as PMS symptoms.
7. Include calcium and magnesium in your diet.
A regular dietary intake of calcium and magnesium is crucial for balancing the hormones.
8. Use heating pads or hot water bags around the painful area.
It relaxes stiff muscles and reduces pain by bringing oxygen in the area.
9. Sleep well and exercise regularly.
One of the most important things to address is relaxation through 7 to 8 hours of sound sleep and stress reduction.
Meditation and breathing exercises (Pranayama) also assist in reducing stress.
If you eat plenty of nuts, seeds and grains, then increase your aerobic exercises. These exercises release endorphin hormones or feel good hormones in the body. The presence of this hormone works like a natural painkiller.
10. Apply natural progesterone cream or wild yam cream.
