For the first time in the history of Lakme Fashion Week, an all women batch of designers were picked as part of the GenNext programme.
The GenNext show introduces new and upcoming designers with a vision for the future.
Madhumita Nath, Amrapali Singh, Ujjwala Bhadu and Sunaina Khera showcased their collection on Day One of the ongoing fashion week in Mumbai.
Scroll down to see their stunning collections.
Amrapali Singh
Amrapali's Queen of Hearts collection was inspired by a pack of playing cards.
The collection saw simple, playful outfits in giza cotton, silk organza and chiffon.
Singh used scallops, patches and lace embroidery to elevate her creations.
Madhumita Nath
For Madhumita's Bliss collection, the designer combined old embroidery techniques on modern silhouettes.
Handwoven prints and patterns on organic cotton and khadi were a staple.
Nath introduced the tiered flouncy skirt, multiprint midi and pinafore in her show.
Ujjwala Bhadu
One of the youngest designers to showcase at GenNext, Ujjwala's collection put the focus on knitwear.
Oversized trousers, tassels, fringes and knit pleats were some of the highlights.
Here, a model is seen wearing a dress with tassels from Ujjwala's line.
Sunaina Khera
A long way from home seemed to be an apt theme for Sunaina's show.
As models walked in sequined and shimmery creations, it reminded us of the various moods and emotions women go through -- from joy and happiness to despair and depression.
The beaded bodice and sparkling use of sheer and sheath added just the right amount of oomph and glamour.
Meet the talented women behind the creations -- Ujjwala Bhadu, Sunaina Khera, Madhumita Nath and Amrapali Singh. Don't they deserve applause?
