India's top designers weave their magic

The fashion show showcased the rich, cultural heritage of Banaras.  

Top 12 Indian fashion designers showcased their creations at the Weaves of Banaras Show for Make in India Week.

The show was an ode to the skilled weavers of Banaras.

Indian designers including JJ Valaya, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Namrata Joshipura, Abraham & Thakore, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna and Anita Dogre -- among others -- presented their collections.

Here are some of the best looks from the show -- the spotlight was on the Banarasi weaves. 

It's off-white and gold for Rohit Bal.

The designer presented his own interpretation of Banarasi weaves through these resplendent outfits. 

Recycling fashion got a whole new meaning as Delhi-based designers Abraham & Thakore worked their magic with these brocade skirts made of jute.  

Rajesh Pratap Singh gave a modern twist to the Banarasi theme with jackets and skirts paired with sunglasses. 

Here's a model dressed in an ensemble by fashion designer Namrata Joshipura.  

Anju Modi's bridal outfits featured modest lehengas in white, black and red. 

Sabyasachi Mukherjee revived old-world romance with these black-and-white bridal outfits.

Mukherjee chose to stick to his trademark colour, black across his creations. 

Sony Kaur, here, showcases a creation by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna.

Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's collection added a contemporary twist to the Banarasi fabric. 

 Presenting a contemporary twist to the good old sari worn over a golden jacket. 

The designers take a bow with the models as the event comes to a close. 

The top 12 Indian designers enjoy their moment in the limelight.
