What a showstopper! And it is not Aditi Rao Hydari we are talking about here.
Although she is a smasher too.
But having a celebrity on the ramp does not in any way take the attention away from Ritu Kumar’s creation.
A stunning gulabi (pink) brocade sari, choli and gold churidars. Love it!
Each piece was a show stopper.
And a celebration of the weavers of Banaras.
Titled Varanasi weaves the collection brought back the beauty of motifs like Badami, Kyari, Shikargah and floral butis.
The collection included the ethereal white-on-white hand cut work Jamdani of Banaras, like this one showcased by Parvathy Omanakuttan.
And rich and luscious Banarasi saris. Carol Gracias carries it off with perfect grace.
Here’s the designer with her showstopper.
The master weavers of Banaras take a bow on the ramp along with Ritu Kumar and politician/designer Shaina NC.
