Veteran designer Ritu Kumar presented an off-beat collection on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Hip Hop Baroque was inspired by the hip-hop music genre.
"1990s DIY punk references are juxtaposed with hip-hop style to create looks that are simultaneously retro and contemporary," Ritu Kumar told the Press Trust of India.
The designer picked actress Taapsee Pannu as the showstopper for her collection.
Kumar said she chose the actor because of her "spunky" nature, adding, "Bollywood is one of the biggest influencers in the fashion space and the reach is unparallelled. They play an important role in taking Indian textiles forward."
