#GenNext: The future of fashion is here

The new crop of Indian designers spell the trend for 2017 -- comfortable clothing with a touch of culture.

Seven GenNext designers opened Day One of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 here in Mumbai.

Their collections put comfort and sustainability to the fore.

IMAGE: Kolkata based designer Soumodeep Dutta's collection derived inspiration from the traditional sada sari lal par (white with red border sari).

IMAGE: Themed 'Connecting Link', the designs in white and red in muslin took us back in time. Most creations were designed using a single piece of cloth.

IMAGE: A big thank you to Dutta for promoting designs put together by weavers from Murshidabad and Bardhaman through his collection.
