India at New York Fashion Week

India made its presence felt at the recently-concluded New York Fashion Week.

There was Padma Lakshmi, of course, who looked a million bucks at the J Mendel show.

For his latest collection, India-born Bibhu Mohapatra turned to Nancy Cunard, the political activist of the early 20th century for inspiration.

However, instead of recreating the costumes of the '20s (the era she lived in), Bibhu attempted to reflect her independent spirit.
