It's rare to meet a celeb who uses 'fashion' and 'green' in the same sentence.

However, Sanya Malhotra is making an exception by educating people about switching to sustainable fashion.

"It is time Indians switched to sustainable fashion. It is the need of the hour," she said during a press conference at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019.

The real meaning of sustainable fashion began to sink into her life last year, after she watched a documentary called The True Coast

"That educated me about sustainable and fast fashion," shared the actor who strongly feels that fast brands are putting pressure on the consumers to buy clothes often.

"Since then (the time she watched the documentary) I have been trying to switch to sustainability and avoid fashion brands that pollute the environment.

"It is my resolution of the year to embrace sustainability," she candidly admits.

Taking her resolution forward, the actor walked the ramp for Alcis X Nari powered by R'Elana at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week.

The collection featured clothes made with fabric that was actually created from recycled PET bottles.

"Can you actually imagine these beautiful clothes are made from recycled waste?" she questioned.

The actor is not just confident about voicing her opinions, she also puts great thought into how she plans on doing her bit for the environment.

"It will take time to educate people about sustainability, why it is so important and how it will make a difference to our planet."

According to her, it's about taking "one step at a time, because it is going to take a lot of time."

Speaking of her fashion choices, Sanya lives by this style rule: "Be lazy, be comfortable."

She doesn't believe in working out just because that's what the job demands.

"I love working out. It makes me happy," says Sanya. "It helps me keep myself active."
