'70s disco fashion on the runway

February 24, 2016

Ashish Gupta's show at London Fashion Week 2016 was inspired by the colours of rainbow and a box of crayons he owned as a child!

Afro wigs ruled the runway at Delhi-born designer Ashish Gupta's show in London.

It was truly a celebration of colours.

Ashish termed it as a "rainbow fantasy extravaganza" on Instagram, and we can't disagree.

The designer had creatively used a singular shade for each of his creations, and how!

He took us down memory lane with some of the outfits including a glitzy raincoat, peddle-pushers -- yes, you heard it right -- maxis and mini-skirts thrown into the collection.

Scroll down to check out his latest collection.

A model shows some attitude in this satin peddle-pushers with bows adorned on each side and a daring sequinned jacket.

Bows and sequins...that's Ashish's style statement in a nutshell.

The off-shoulder sequinned dress saw a comeback on the runway along with trench coats.

Shorts and full-sleeve tops don't make such a bad combination after all!

High-slit maxi gowns were part of the collection too.

This outfit takes us back to the 70s when denims were such a rage!

What's interesting is that the models' lips and nails were painted in colour of the outfit with matching shoes and wigs.

You don't need lights when you have a pair of bright blue night clothes, do you?

Stepping out for a party? A glittering slip dress is all you need.

The show seemed like an ode to the disco era. Doesn't it?
