Beards are the flavour of the season and it's a market China's leading gadget manufacturer, Xiaomi, does not want to miss.

So they've laid down their gauntlet with their first ever beard trimmer, priced at Rs 1,199.

It was launched in India a few hours ago.

The company, which is known for its mobile phones, is expanding its reach in India through a range of products like smart televisions, home automation, suitcases, backpacks, fitness accessories, air purifiers and shoes.

These are some of the features of their latest gadget, the Mi beard trimmer.

Forty length settings

The forty length setting comes with two combs that can move between a precision of 0.5mm to 20mm to sculpt your beard.

The trimmer is fitted with a stainless steel, self-sharpening blade for prolonged smooth usage.

Battery

The trimmer is fitted with a Li-ion battery.

It can be charged in two hours for 90 minutes of use.

That's not all; if you are in a hurry, a five minute charge gives you 10 minutes of runtime.

It can also be used with a cord connected to a 5 v adapter or a power bank.

The battery indicator light lets you know how much charge is left.

Ease of use

The trimmer, which is IPx7 certified, is fully washable.

It comes with a travel lock, so that you don't switch it on unintentionally.

In the box

The trimmer comes with a travel pouch, a charging cable, a cleaning brush and two combs.

Verdict

Based on the company's reputation and the quality of its products, the trimmer -- with its premium features -- seems worth a buy at Rs 1,199.
