When Chennai-based baker and mother to a toddler Sruti Nakul posted a picture of her wearing in a sari on Instagram, she expected her friends to notice the outfit and the material.

Instead, she says, people wrote back to her wanting to know how she looked so thin and didn't have any stretch marks, despite giving birth only three months ago.

Sruti, who is married to Tamil actor Nakul, chose to share her views about post pregnancy weight loss and the social pressure to hide your stretch marks and get back in shape.

Sharing a picture of her in a sari alongside one flaunting her stretch marks, Sruti wrote: 'People celebrate scars which you get our of war. Why not out of pregnancy?'

'Why not carry the stretch marks you have after you've lost weight? It reminds you of what you are and what you are capable of,' the young mother added.

Do check the long post below:

'Don't let anyone dull your sparkle ! Remember that beauty is only skin deep,' Sruti wrote.

'Each body, each pregnancy, each child is different. You should never be comparing yourself or your child with another! Everyone is a work in progress,' she added.

Sruti and Nakul became parents to daughter Akira three months ago.
