The much-anticipated beginning of computer-based CAT 2009 got off to a rocky start with technical glitches at various centres throwing students' preparation into disarray.
The CAT centre at MERI (Management Education and Research Institute), Delhi crashed due to technical problems.
SRM University, Chennai faced technical errors and some students were unable to take the test. They were asked to return home and would be called in for the exam later. The exam could not start due to failure of the server.
The exam was also cancelled at Venkateswara College in Bangalore and at another centre at Bhopal students were told
that the exam has been postponed for "an indefinite period of time". At the CAT centre at Heritage Institute of Technology (Kolkata) some of the students were asked to back as there were technical problems and the test could not be conducted. There are also reports of problems at Saraswathy college, Mumbai, Garden City College, Bangalore
and at the College of Engineering, Pune.
