Here are five things you must know about the Ducati Scrambler series to be launched in India soon

Well known motorcycle manufacturer Ducati is going to start its India operations from March 18, 2015. Ducati has decided to bring its exquisite motorcycle range to India along with its all-renewed Scrambler series.

Based on the second generation platform of Scrambler, these machines are a blend of the traditional and modern. This time Ducati has focussed on developing lifestyle motorcycles rather than focussing just on performance.

1. Variants

Scrambler Ducati Icon

Christened Scrambler Ducati, the series comprises of following models: Icon, Urban Enduro, Classic and Full Throttle.

To compete aggressively on the new ground, the Scrambler series will range from Rs 7 to 10 lakh only. Being the most affordable bikes ever from the Ducati's stable, these lifestyle machines are expected to be game changers in the mid-weight performance bike segment.

2. Engine

Scrambler Ducati Urban Enduro

Empowering the Ducati Scrambler models is the Monster 796's Desmodromic L-Twin engine with 803cc of displacement. The powertrain is linked to a six-speed transmission system that has mechanically controlled Adler Power Torque Clutch, a wet clutch for minimised clutch lever 'pull' effort.

It has been detuned to produce 75bhp of power at 8250rpm and 68Nm of torque at 5750rpm.

3. Design

Scrambler Ducati Classic

All the new Ducati Scrambler models are formed on a tubular steel trellis frame coupled with 41mm inverted forks at the front and preload adjustable single-shock at the rear.

Along with the Kayaba suspension system, the bike is bestowed with 11/80 front and 180/55 rear Pirelli MT 60 RS dual sport tyres that house 18" front and 17" rear wheels.

Meanwhile, the Icon and Full Throttle sport multi-spoke alloy wheels and the remaining rangers are fixed with spoked wheels. The tyres are further equipped with semi-floating 300mm mono disc radially mounted MonoBloc Brembo 4-piston caliper and 245mm disc with single piston floating caliper at the front and rear respectively.

4. Standard features

Scrambler Ducati Full Throttle

Assembled on the same lines, the Scrambler Ducati series have a strong resemblance to each other but with the help of several unique features and styling, Ducati has created a notable difference among them.

However, Icon is the basis of all the other Scrambler versions, which only boast standard features. The retro style teardrop steel tank with interchangeable aluminum side panels get dedicated paint job and logos for each model.

The random instrument cluster placed above the headlight with futuristic LCD display has interchangeable aluminum cover. Moreover, it is bestowed with an under-seat storage space with USB port which is something unexpected.

Given this old piece a new vision is an LED tail lamp with diffusion lights. Perhaps, each angle looks very raw because of its unconventional style and makeover.

5. Distinguishing features

Scrambler Ducati Urban Enduro is a dual sport machine, which is equipped with aluminium handlebar cross-strut, aluminum engine sump guard, front stem protectors, high front mudguard, spoked aluminum wheels, headlight grill and ribbed seat. It is introduced in Wild Green colour on the fuel tank rear panels and front fender.

Scrambler Ducati Classic flaunts the traditional design with front and rear aluminum mudguards, spoked aluminum wheels, fuel tank with black stripe, vintage seat and high number-plate support, which are enlightened by Orange Sunshine colour.

Scrambler Ducati Full Throttle is flat track racing inspired version allotted with Termignoni mufflers, sport tail piece with dedicated turn indicator support, low aluminum handlebars, racing inspired seat, short front mudguard with yellow stripe, black fuel tank side covers with dedicated logo.
