There has never been a better time to be a motorcycling enthusiast in India than the second decade of the 21st century. Big shot names such as Aprilia and BMW have dramatically shifted their focus towards the country and have launched a torrent of world class bikes in a market which is dominated by pedestrian commuter bikes and scooters only.
The latest of the brands to finally set shop in the country is MV Augusta, which launched three models in the Indian market last week.
MV Augusta has started retailing its bikes in the country in partnership with the Pune based Kinetic group. The Italian automotive firm will sell its bike through the highly exclusive Motoroyale line of stores. The first dealership will immediately start operations in Pune and will also take care of all the sales, service and spare parts needs of customers.
MV Augusta has started its Indian innings with three motorcycles.
The smallest MV Augusta F3 is a fully faired sportsbike with a 3-cylinder 800cc engine, and is equipped with ABS and traction control.
The MV Augusta F4 is the most powerful offering of the company in India with a 1.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 195 HP of power and 111 Nm of torque, with the F4 RR variant producing an even scary 201 BHP of power.
The third machine from the company is the naked but gorgeous Brutale 1090 which is powered by a 1078cc, 4-cylinder engine that belts out 144 BHP of power and 112 Nm of torque.
The company has planned to open the Motoroyale dealerships in other major cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai too. The F3 starts from Rs 16.78 lakh, the F4 from Rs 26.87 lakh and the Brutale 1090 is on sale for Rs 20.10 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Pune).
