That's why we got career counsellors Srividya and Charmaine Vaz from YoungBuzz to chat with Get Ahead readers on May 12.

Srividya answers, It would be ideal for you to approach a career counsellor who can guide you based on aptitude tests. This will give you an accurate picture as to which career you should get into.

Srividya answers, You can look out for options like BMS/ B Com with finance or accounts/ banking and insurance/ BCA.
Chandari asked, If I have some gap in education, how can I hide the fact during any job interview , since I think it is hampering my prospects at many places.
Srividya answers, It is ultimately your skill. Project your skills more boldly.

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi Sujesh, with commerce as a background, you have two options -- if you have taken Maths, you can look at BMS, BIT or you could continue with B Com and simultaneously pursue animation and related careers if you enjoy designing.
If you have not taken Maths, then you can continue with BCom after which you can later on look at law, travel and tourism, event management or even MBA.
dumanau asked, Its really tough. The pressure is much. How do I handle it? study hard otherwise no job,but how hard can I study? I am an average student. I average 60 to 70%. Will I not get any job?
Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi there, you seem to be a committed person. Continue the fight. Good things usually come to people who wait. In the meantime, have a positive outlook, keep applying and networking. All the best!
mouli asked, i want to pursue a career in news anchoring, am a maths student, appeared for 12th...what should i do next?
Srividya answers, You can go for BMM -- Bachelors in Mass Media with a specialisation in journalism. After that you can do an audition for news anchoring.

Srividya answers, It has a good amount of scope if you are looking for a career in finance and accounts. Then ICWA is a good option.

Srividya answers, The Class XII results have not yet been declared. They will be done in the first or second week of June.
Hadi asked, I am going to start my classes of PGDM(AIMA)course at M.S.Ramaiah Inst Of Management.It is a nodal centre.I am not in a job and dont want to join any job in between studies.Will it create me placement troubles.?
Srividya answers, No. If you do not work during your course, it will not hamper your placement later. But, ideally, you need to look for placements which will give you a better job opportunity in the future.

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi, I am assuming that you have completed your graduation. You could look at the media/ mass communication courses offered by institutes across the country. For instance, you have the St Xavier's Institute of Communication. These include Journalism, Public Relations, News Anchoring & Broadcasting, dubbing, RJing.

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi Nimish they will be declared in the second week of June.

Srividya answers, Could you tell us your background -- science, commerce, arts?

Srividya answers, You can look out for an option called B Com with finance and accounts
Nimish asked, My brother is a cricketer. He wishes to pursue engineering in future, for which he would have to quit his cricketing career. What should he do, take up engineering or cricket. He is the top cricketer in his school at least.
Srividya answers, Both fields are equally good. But you cannot guarantee success in the field of cricket. It is ultimately the need to identify in which area you have more potential
Nishith asked, i have appeared for 12th std science and worried about my results as well as what is the best carrear apart from Engi and Medical.
Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi Nishith, wish you all the best for your results. If you are interested in research, you could look at BSc courses in Life Sciences (microbiology, biotechnology, biological sciences as well as pharmacy).

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi Shiny, first of all let's not assume. Irrespective of the results, there are various options. Expecting the worst, you can always appear again for your Class X examinations as a private candidate. Even if you get a low percentage, you can explore various options, so don't get disheartened.

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi Shubra, sleep is very important for you. Worrying about your results is not going to change anything. Medicine and engineering are not the only sort after careers. You have many options today. So, take things one day at a time. And, when you do get your results, make sure you consult a career counsellor. All the best!

Srividya answers, To become a doctor you need to complete Std XII and you need to give entrance exams. So you have two more years to work on science and maths.

Srividya answers, You require a BA in psychology and a masters in specialisation of vocational guidance.

Srividya answers, You can prepare for the IIMs or CET for the colleges in Maharashtra to get into MBA.

Charmaine Vaz answers, Hi there, start getting information about various colleges and courses and the cut-off percentage required. Even talking to senior students will give you insights. Whatever your results, there are a lot of options. Take some time out to rejuvenate, as you will need the energy to run around later for admissions!
