Choreographer Saroj Khan seems definitely keen on changing track.

After an acting role in Naseeruddin Shah's Yun Hota To Kya Hota, she has turned director for a Bhojpuri film.

The film, Dil Diwana Tohar Gayil, stars Ravi Kishan and Nagma.

"I don't know the language and that was a problem. So I made my producer the translator," Khan said.

Friday night's launch of the film saw a setting very unlike the typical Bollywood movie launches.

The crowd had a certain warmth, and the media seemed to reciprocate that.

Meet the star of Bhojpuri cinema

"I am overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from the media," Bhojpuri star Kishan remarked.

Besides Saroj Khan's film, three other Bhojpuri films were launched at the event: Munna Pandey Berojgar, Sataon Vachanwa Nibhayib Hum and Laagi Chhute Na.

Nagma, the survivor

One of these movies stars Ravi Kishan and Nagma. The other two star Manoj Tiwari, another Bhojpuri big gun. His heroines will be Rani Chateerjee and Rinku Ghosh. Veteran villain Ranjeet will star in Munna Pandey Berojgar.

A producer said even the cost of making five Bhojpuri films is not enough to make a Hindi film. And unlike in Hindi films, Bhojpuri songs can be shot in a single day.

Nagma, who is currently filming the Bhojpuri film Ganga starring Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, looked gorgeous in black. Rani Chatterjee, another Bhojpuri actress, also attended the do. Ravi Kishan, in a suit, seemed to tower over everyone.

Incidentally, a Bengali film, Anuranon, was also announced at the event. The film stars Rahul Bose, Rituparna Sengupta, Rajat Kapoor and Raima Sen.
