Noted author and former UN diplomat Shashi Tharoor is the Congress candidate from Thiruvananthapuram for the Lok Sabha elections.
He is among a list of 16 candidates whose names were announced by the Central Election Committee of the party on Thursday night.
The noted diplomat, who was India's candidate for the office of UN Secretary General in 2006, had earlier indicated that he will contest the Lok Sabha polls if he was given a chance and gave indications that his choice was Congress.
