"A responsible government will take seriously the security concerns of any political leader but the final decision to provide Z grade security for Bharatiya Janta Party leader Varun Gandhi has not been taken." This was the response of senior Congress leader and Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma who interacted with the media in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

On a specific question whether the Congress was rattled by the Varun issue, Sharma said not once were they bothered about this issue.

"His (Varun's) statements are unacceptable and hate campaigns have no place in Indian society. It is unfortunate that BJP is relying on such issues as it has no other agenda," Sharma said.

On the issue of ill gotten wealth parked abroad, Sharma said that the government has already written on this issue.

"I can assure you that the United Progressive Alliance will do everything to bring this money back. I would like to add here that (BJP leader) L K Advani should stop sensationalising this issue. He was the home minister for six years and he did nothing about it. He seems to dish out statistics only during elections," Sharma said.

On questions based on poll alliances, Sharma said that the Congress will contest in 440 seats.

"We will have post poll alliances and once the elections are over we will do the arithmetic. As of now we have state specific alliances in eight states," Sharma said.

Sharma also took a dig at the Left parties, and said that the Communist Party of India-Marxist in particular has a frozen mindset and their ability to influence Indian politics will diminish.
