Actor-turned-politician Shekhar Suman on Tuesday said that his decision to join the Congress party and contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections was a well thought out one.

"I contemplated the idea last time when I was offered the ticket but I was not prepared then. Now I am geared up to start a new inning of my life. I want to do it whole heartedly. After meeting (Congress president) Sonia Gandhi, I made up my mind." said Shekhar, who has hosted popular comedy shows.

"I am not a hardcore politician. I know what not to do in this field so I won't give anybody a chance to pull my leg. I want to change the image of cine stars who become ' Eid ka chand' after winning the election," Suman said.

Suman's prime opponent from the Patna Saheb parliamentary seat is another actor-turned-politician, Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Shatrughan Sinha.

Speaking on the contest between the two 'Biharis' Suman says, "If he is Bihari Babu, then I am also Khanti (original) Bihari. I am proud to be a Bihari."
