Humming with activity till Saturday morning, Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani's residence wore a deserted look as news of the National Democratic Alliance's poor showing in the Lok Sabha polls trickled in.

Since morning, a frenzied media stationed itself outside the 30, Prithviraj Road residence and a number of BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh went into a huddle at Advani's residence.

Terming the results as 'unexpected', a disappointed Singh said, "The party will analyse the results in detail."

A visibly disappointed Venkaiah Naidu refused to speak to the media, but informed reporters that the parliamentary board of the party will react to the results later in the evening.

The scene outside Advani's residence, where no BJP supporter was present, was in total contrast with that of 10 Janpath, which has been buzzing with activity as the Congress is set to retain power at the Centre.

As the buzz about the BJP forming the government died down, even media people started leaving the place.

"He has lost the plot, there is no point in waiting here," said a TV journalist who has been covering the BJP for the last couple of years.

The security personnel at Advani's residence were also disappointed.

"Sweets are being distributed at 10 Janpath, but there is nothing here...Advani will not become PM this time too," a disheartened security personnel said.

"A group of people with drums and other musical instruments were supposed to come here but now they have been asked not to come," another security personnel said.
