The Congress is more interested in ousting the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu and not sharing power, Congress Working Committee member Veerappa Moily said Monday.
Replying to a specific question whether the Congress would be a part of a coalition government, to which even Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief M Karunanidhi was ready, Moily, also party in charge of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, said, "The remarks reflect the democratic sentiments of Karunanidhi. We are interested in winning the elections and not sharing power. If such a situation arises, the DMK and Congress high command would sit and decide together," Moily said.
Asked whether the Congress would accept nothing short of deputy chief ministership in the coalition, Moily said, "I am not ready for a debate on the issue. The Congress is interested to see the AIADMK government's removal. For this we will fight unitedly."
To a question on Kerala, Moily, refusing to buy the exit poll predictions that the opposition Left Democratic Front would sweep the polls, claimed that the development and performance graph in Kerala was higher than West Bengal's.
The netural voters of 20 per cent in the survey were more lenient towards the United Democratic Front, he claimed, and added that this indicated that there was no "nexus" between the exit poll and results.
