Cases have been registered against six political parties, including All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, for 'violating' the election code of conduct. Police say the parties have written slogans on walls, ahead of the May 8 Assembly elections.

The police had received a complaint from the commissioner of Tiruvottiyur municipality in north Chennai against the AIADMK, DMK, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and Communist Party of India (Marxist) in this regard.

An investigation revealed that all the parties had written their slogans in over 350 places in Tiruvottiyur alone, police said.
