The Nationalist Congress Party on Sunday urged Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi to initiate a probe into the inclusion of party member of Legislative Assembly Kamlesh Singh in the list of Arjun Munda's council of ministers.

In a memorandum submitted to the governor in Ranchi, the NCP noted that the party had pledged the MLA's support to the United Progressive Alliance.

"Should it be construed as horse-trading? Is it not a conspiracy theory to disqualify (him) under the Anti-defection Act? These are matters which require to be probed," the memorandum, released to the press, said.

Kamlesh Singh, who had fought the assembly elections on the NCP symbol, took oath as a minister in the erstwhile Shibu Soren government.

His name also figured during the swearing in of the Arjun Munda ministry on Saturday. But Singh, who is now in a private hospital nursing a heart problem, did not turn up for the occasion.

Reiterating that Singh was still with the UPA, the memorandum alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party had included Singh's name in the list without taking the consent of NCP leadership.

Senior BJP leader Saryu Rai had on Saturday said Singh's name was included to 'clear any confusion' about the NDA having the support of 42 MLAs.
