Janata Dal-United leader Nitish Kumar on Sunday said the people of Bihar had voted for the JD-U-Bharatiya Janata Dal alliance, which has emerged as the single largest unit in the state.

"One thing is sure. The people have voted against the the Rashtriya Janata Dal," he said outside the New Delhi residence of his party colleage Sharad Yadav.

Yadav -- who more or less echoed his views -- and BJP leader Arun Jaitely were flanking him.

"There is a difference of about 30 seats between the National Democratic Allinace and the the RJD combines," he said referring to projections that the NDA would touch 100.

Asked if the alliance would seek the support of Lok Janshakti Party leader Ramvilas Paswan, he said NDA leaders would meet at 1700 IST and discuss the issue. "We will discuss everything. As of now it is sure that we are the biggest alliance."

"The JD-U and the BJP fought the election together. We will sit in the evening and take a joint decision. We will try to give a good government to the people of Bihar because they have given us the mandate."

Referring to the talks that the NDA had with Paswan before the election, during which the LJP leader was offered the chief minister's post, he said, "We tried our best, but he did not heed us."
