CPP meeting at 1830 IST

The Congress Parliamentary Party will meet at 1830 IST on Tuesday in the backdrop of the development of Sonia Gandhi expressing her reluctance to be the prime minister.

Gandhi is likely to meet all Congress allies at 1630 IST.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi, accompanied by senior party leader Manmohan Singh, met President A P J Abdul Kalam. She, however, was not carrying the letters of support that have been handed over to her by alliance partners.

Soon after, word came out of 10, Janpath of Gandhi's reluctance to be the PM.

A formal announcement on this count is likely to come after the CPP meeting.
